Jokes are serious business.
Taboo societal subjects can only be broached with jokes and joke-cycles. The latest American joke-cycle coincides with George W. Bush and his current war in Iraq. Many of the jokes are recycled from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. But, for a citizen, they perform the same function: an accepted outlet for fear, frustration, and outrage.
